Description

Canine Coronavirus

Canine Coronavirus (CCoV) is a highly contagious disease in dogs that causes inflammation of the dog’s intestines (called enteritis). The disease spreads when the mouth of a healthy dog touches the feces of an infected dog. Infected dogs can spread the virus for 6 to 9 days, although puppies have been shown to spread the disease for up to 6 months, even if they no longer show any symptoms of the disease.

The virus affects dogs of all ages, and puppies are more susceptible to infection. Clinical symptoms will appear 18 to 72 hours after infection. The most common symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, a strong smell of stool, and blood/mucus in the stool.

Puppies exhibit additional canine coronavirus symptoms such as anorexia (loss of appetite), depression, and dehydration. In case of dehydration, use fluid therapy. Most dogs recover completely from the virus, starting from the seventh day of illness. "
