Description
Canine Brucella
Canine brucellosis is caused by Brucella canis, which is a gram-negative, facultative intracellular and zoonotic bacteria. It is related to chronic and persistent dog infections and is found worldwide distributed. Affected dogs may experience miscarriage, stillbirth, non-pregnancy, embryonic death, orchitis, epididymitis, prostatitis, lymphadenopathy, discitis, and uveitis. A considerable number of infected dogs, including animals in the bacteremia stage, may not have clinical manifestations, but they can be the source of infection.
