Do you have regular physical examinations for the dogs at home? In addition to taking it to a pet hospital for a full-body examination, the owner can also check it at home. So what should the owner do?

Pet test paper

We can regularly have pet test papers to test whether the dog is sick.

Touch your nose

If the dog’s nose is wet, it means it’s healthy; if it’s dry, it's getting angry or getting sick, and it needs more attention and hydration. Of course, it is normal for a dog to have a dry nose when he wakes up.

Look at it for a few seconds

Check whether the dog’s eyes are in tears, observe whether the dog’s lacrimal glands are darker in color, and reflect on whether the food fed to the dog is too salty or the food is not suitable.

Check eyes

If a foreign body enters the dog's eyes, the owner can use eye drops to clean it up. When cleaning, the action should be as gentle as possible, so as not to hurt the dog.

Touch the body

By taking the body temperature, you can directly know whether the dog has a fever, and thus know whether it is sick. The body temperature of a healthy dog should be 38-39 degrees Celsius, but the smaller or more lively dog, the body temperature will be higher than normal.

If your dog is a large dog or not very active, when its body temperature is too high or too low than normal, and it does not return to normal, it means that it may be sick.

Close to the dog's mouth

When you are close to the dog, get close to the dog’s mouth and smell its freshness. If there is a smell, it means that there is oral disease or stomach upset! Especially old dogs.

Oral examination

The most common oral problem in dogs is that new teeth do not grow smoothly, or tartar. A pair of white teeth not only makes the dog look more beautiful, but also a guarantee of health. When checking the teeth of your pet, you must first open its mouth to see if the mouth and teeth are clean.

If the dog already has dental calculus or even tooth decay, you need to take it to the vet for further treatment. Remember, to cultivate the habit of brushing your dog, so as to ensure that they have a pair of white and healthy teeth.

Flip dog ears

If the dog's ears have a smelly smell, and brown things are stained from the inside out, it is a bad sign. If the dog keeps shaking his head, it may have ear wax, ear mites or inflammation. If your dog’s auricle is dirty, wipe it off with a wet tissue or alcohol cotton.

If your ears have brown cerumen, it is recommended to clean them with ear drops. Dogs with long hairs in their ears should also be checked regularly for the need for plucking.

Shake hands with the dog

When playing with the dog, look over the dog's foot pad to see if there are any cracks, and point out whether the hair inside is long. Feel for any damage or small pustules between the toes with your hands. If your nails are sharp, it is time to trim them, and then touch up to see if there are any long bags on your legs.

Pet the dog

When petting the dog, consciously touch the dog's chin, the back of the ears, the back of the neck, the base of the tail and the belly. In this way, you can find out whether the hair is knotted, whether there are small bumps, bumps, etc. on the skin.

Coat skin examination

A healthy dog should have a shiny and smooth coat. Regularly groom the dog's coat. In addition to ensuring that the coat will not be tangled and knotted, it can also be used to check whether the skin is healthy.

In addition, if the dog's coat lacks luster, the hand feels rough, and the skin dander or the coat is peeling off in pieces, it means that the dog has skin abnormalities, and you should take it to the veterinarian for examination and treatment.

Check its feces

When you take your dog out for a walk every day, one of the purposes is to let it excrete. You'd better see with your own eyes the condition of the dog's poop, whether it is dry or thin, and whether it is formed smoothly, so that you can grasp the physical condition at any time and adjust the diet so that the dog's daily poop is smooth and beautiful.
