Description

Rabies Virus Antibody Rapid Test (Rabies Ab)

Catalog No.: JCA027D

¤  INTENDED USE

Rabies is a vital disease to both animal and human beings. Dog or cat could be a carrier without any clinical symptom. Vaccination could be apparently decrease the ratio of carrier and infection of rabies virus. But even after vaccination, there is still about 15% of total cases which could not generate protective antibodies. It is suggested to detect the Rabies antibodies for dogs after 45days vaccination.

The Rabies Virus Antibody Rapid Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of rabies virus antibody (Rabies Ab) above the level 0.5IU/mL in dog’s serum or plasma.

Assay Time:  10-15 minutes

Specimen:Serum or plasma

¤  PRINCIPLE

The Rabies Virus Antibody Rapid Test is based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test device has a testing window for the observation of assay running and result reading. The testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and a C (control) zone before running the assay. When the treated sample was applied into the sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow through the surface of the test strip and react with the pre-coated recombinant antigen. If the Rabies antibodies level is above 0.5IU/mL in the specimen, a visible T line will appear. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, which indicates a valid result.

¤  REAGENTS AND MATERIALS

- Test devices, with disposable droppers

- Assay buffer

- Cotton swabs

- Products Manual

¤  STORAGE AND STABILITY

The kit can be stored at room temperature (4-30°C). The test kit is stable through the expiration date (24 months) marked on the package label. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not store the test kit in direct sunlight.

¤  SPECIMEN PREPARATION AND STORAGE

- Specimen should be obtained and treated as below.

Serum or plasma: collect the whole blood for the patient dog, centrifuge it to get the serum, or place the whole blood into a tube which contains anticoagulants to get plasma.

- All specimen should be tested immediately. If not for testing right now, they should be stored at 2-8℃.

¤  TEST PROCEDURE

- Allow all materials, including specimen and test device, recover to 15-25℃ before running the assay.

- Take out the test device from the foil pouch and place it horizontally.

- Drop 3 drops of the serum or plasma specimen into the sample hole “S” of the test device.

- Interpret the result in 10 minutes. Result after 15 minutes is considered as invalid.

¤  INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

The presence of “C” line indicates a valid result. Read the result by comparing the color intensity of the “T” line with the standard color reference scale (from “G1” to “G6”).

- Positive (+): The presence of both “C” line and zone “T” line. T line at G3 is considered as standard positive. T line < G3, is weak positive and indicates low CDV or CDV antibody level. T line around G4-G5, is strong positive. T line > G6, is very strong positive, indicates a contact with virus recently or in infection.

- Negative (-): Clear C line appears. No T line, or T line is weaker than G1. It indicates very low CDV or CDV titer. Failed immunization may happen.

- Invalid: No colored line appears in C zone.

¤  PRECAUTIONS

- All reagents must be at room temperature before running the assay.

- Do not remove test cassette from its pouch until immediately before use.

- Do not use the test beyond its expiration date.

- The components in this kit have been quality control tested as standard batch unit. Do not mix components from different lot numbers.

- All specimens are of potential infection. It must be strictly treated according to the rules and regulations by local states.

¤  LIMITATION

The Rabies Virus Antibody Rapid Test is for in vitro veterinary diagnosis use only. All result should be considered with other clinical information available with veterinarian. It is suggested to apply a further quantitative method such as ELISA when positive result was observed.
